Overview
Hackensack Meridian Health and the Department of Medicine/Geriatrics at Jersey Shore University Medical Center is seeking a faculty physician to also serve as Associate Director of Geriatric Consult Service. In this role, you will oversee both administrative and clinical programs within the Department of Medicine and support geriatric initiatives in other areas, such as Emergency Medicine and Surgery.
This position offers a chance to go beyond the usual responsibilities and help shape the future of geriatric care. You will partner with the Chief of Geriatrics to develop and expand both inpatient and outpatient geriatric consultation services, as well as a co-management program for high-risk surgical patients. The role has both clinical and administrative responsibilities, giving you a strong mix of direct patient care and program development.
You will be supported by a dedicated Social Worker, two Geriatric Nurse Practitioners, and a Geriatric Surgical Coordinator. Encourage both new and experienced physicians to apply. Position Highlights:
- Perform inpatient and outpatient consultations and follow-up visits for evaluation and management of geriatric patients
- Assist in further design and implementation of a preoperative assessment program for high-risk elective surgical patients.
- Participate in interdisciplinary conference for elective high-risk patients
- Assist in further design and implementation of a comprehensive inpatient assessment program for high-risk medical and surgical patients
- Participate in activities related to Undergraduate and Graduate Medical Education and promote and support appropriate continuing education programs for physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, and Medicine Residents.
- Work with the Chief of Geriatrics on assessing the feasibility of establishing a Geriatric Fellowship Program
Position Requirements:
- Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine with a fellowship or Certificate of Added Qualification in Geriatric Medicine
- Ability to obtain professional licensure, DEA and CDS license in New Jersey
- Excellent clinical and teaching skills
- Experience in cognitive assessment

Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.
